Teaching Traditional life for Modern Family, Vedictheology

The Vedas are apourusheyam (not man-made). They are the universal truth. Like how the word and its meaning are inseparable and the meaning tries to explain the nature and characteristics of the word, the Vedas as the phonetic form of the Supreme. At the same time, the meaning of the word cannot explain or describe the entire nature and attributes of the word completely. For example, if we say an elephant, the meaning of elephant is known to everyone. However, the word elephant cannot describe the animal elephant in its entirety. In other words the comprehensible word cannot explain the nature of the incomprehensible attributes of the object. Similarly, the Vedas are the comprehensible from of the incomprehensible Supreme.

Bhagavan Veda Vyasa categorized vedas into four groups viz., Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharvana Vedas and ordained Brahmanans to do Veda Adhyayanam (study). Sage Patanjali further divided these four vedas into many branches or Shakhas. Rig Veda had 21 shakhas, Yajur Veda had 108 shakhas, Sama Veda had 1000 shakhas and Atharva Veda had 9 shakhas. This Veda has been preserved for thousands of years through patasalas.

However, in the past few decades, the Brahmanas who are supposed to do veda adhyayana, have not been following that Dharma. It is really a pity that of the total 1138 shakhas, only one shakha of Rig Veda, six shakhas of Yajur Veda, three shakhas of Sama Veda and two shakhas of Atharva Veda are available now. Great souls like Paramacharya have emphasized that at least one child of a brahmana family must do Veda Adhyayanam to save this divine Veda for the future generations. Also, they have said that if we are not able to do Veda Adhyayanam, we need to support those who do the veda adhyayanam.

This Veda patashala is one such initiative to protect the vedic dhama. In addition to the vedic education, the children are taught English, Math, Science and Computer science. We request everyone who are interested in protection and propagation of Vedic Dharma to enroll their children in our Veda Patashasla or at least donate generously for this noble cause. Like how little drops make a mighty ocean, even a mere $0.25 per day can make a big difference. So please become a part of this Veda Samrakshanam.
